Background Statins prevent cardiovascular events and their discontinuation increases mortality.In clinical trials, the frequency of adverse reactions is similar in statin and placebo groups.However, in routine care statins are commonly stopped due to adverse reactions.Systematic data on adverse reactions to statins (statin-related events) and discontinuation of statins inroutine practice are limited.
