As an attractive alternative energy source,gas hydrate has been attracting attention from the academic and industry.Due to a series of potential environmental effects associated with gas hydrate,people remain cautious about gas hydrate production.In this paper,we introduced the in-situ observations in Nankai Trough,Japan and Mississippi Canyon Block 118,USA.Also,we introduced our project of in-situ Surveying Equipment of Engineering Geology in complex deep sea.The program aims to develop a set of in-situ observation equipment of engineering geology in complex deep sea,providing a theoretical basis and technical support for marine geohazards.This observation equipment may be applied for observing the northern slope of the South China Sea for continuous observations of one year to research the engineering geological environment before/during/after the hydrate production tests in China.
