It is estimated that by year 2025, more than two-thirds of the worlds population aged 65 and above will be residing in developed countries.Although the prevalence of dementia is reportedly lower in developing countries than in the developed ones, this may partly be due to under-detection, resulting from lack of diagnostic services.Despite that, such services development continue to be less than satisfactory.This presentation aims at structuring the process of starting a memory disorder program in developed countries.It will take into account, among other factors, low education, accessibility to neuroimaging and lack of locally validated assessment scales.Also, it will address research opportunities that would facilitate the expected growth of such service.
