The most notable feature of an induction synchrotron is the implementation of induction cells instead of RF cavities in the ring.As a result,the bandwidth limitation commonly seen in traditional synchrotrons could be eliminated,where RF frequency could not change beyond a range of order.Theoretically,it could accelerate any A/Q beams from a very low energy to high energy[1].While an A/Q=4 beam was successfully demonstrated as in ref[2,3],which stands for a medium charge state,in this paper,injection and induction acceleration of Ar3+ with A/Q≈13,as an example of low charge state,is described to show the versatility of induction synchrotron in accommodating wide range of ion species and charge state.Preliminary results of direct injection of Ar3+ from a 200 kV ECRIS to the ring and its acceleration are presented with a brief discussion on properties in the low energy beam transport and beam loss in the ring.
