Compartmentalization is an important tool in biology to control the timing and localization of chemical conversions on one hand [1],but on the other also to exchange (molecular) components within a single organism or between different organisms. In the latter case, viruses are well-known examples as they deliver foreign,i.e.viral,genetic material to a host cell and subsequently high jack the cellular machinery to reproduce itself. From a chemical point of view, these viruses are remarkable examples of macromolecular assemblies with respect to the precision in construction. This has triggered investigations not only into the infectious properties of viruses, but also their application in chemistry and/or materials science;an emerging field referred to as Chemical Virology [2].
