Due to their unique properties of renewability,low cytotoxicity and excellent biocompatibility,polysaccharides are good candidates in the preparation of new drug delivery systems.Gene therapy shows much promise in tackling various genetic diseases and cancers,viral infection,and cardiovascular disorders.The most challenging task in gene therapy is the design of efficient gene delivery nanovectors.Recently,our group has successfully designed of series of polysaccharide-based gene nanovectors,including PDMAEMA-,PGMA-,and peptide-functionalized polysaccharides for gene delivery.
