Metal-directed self-assembly of organic ligands and metal ions or organometallic substances with various intriguing topologies have been extensively studied[1,2].A three-dimensional network complex,[(nBu3Sn)2 L] ∞(H2L =meso-2,3-Dibromosuccinic acid) has been synthesized in CH3CH2OH by the reaction of nBu3SnCl and H2L.The complex was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, elementary analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure is rhombohedral, space group R-3,with a =27.497(2)(A),b =27.497(2)(A),c =12.8751(15)(A),α =90°,β =90°,γ =120°,V =8430.5(14)(A)3,Z =18,Dcalc=1.514Mg/m3,F(000) =3834,R1 =0.0492,wR2 =0.1384.Each H2L ligand in Figure 1,in turn, employs its two bidentate carboxylic groups to coordinate to six metal centers. Thus, six ligands are linked by six metal centers into a 24-membered macrocycle, which is further linked to six nearest-neighbor tin centers by six 24-membered macrocycle to give rise to a 36-membered macrocycle.
