  To make a clear insight into design,synthesis and improvement of amine-functionalized adsorbents,a series of synthesized conditions was chosen specifically to investigate the behavior of APTES supported on mesoporous SBA-15 for CO2 adsorption.Firstly,the functionalizing reactions were achieved via surface grafting (1) at 85 °C and reflux with a water condenser,(2) at 85 °C and reflux with an air condenser,(3) at room temperature with a dry cube,and (4) at room temperature with a stopper.Then the characterizations of APTES-functionalized SBA-15 were obtained including nitrogen adsorption/desorption,thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA),X-ray diffraction (XRD) and CO2 adsorption measurement.The result showed that the adsorbent synthesized by method (1) exhibited the best structural and adsorptive performances.To sum up,the effect of pore volume,amine-grafted density and CO2 adsorption capacity based on different synthetic conditions was sorted as a sequence of (1)>(3)>(2)≈(4).In addition,adding distilled deionized water to homogeneous mixture before the grafting reaction can make amino groups bound to SBA-15 at a higher coverage.This study of optimal synthetic condition may play an important role in the design of such amine-functionalized mesoporous silicas (i.e.MCM-41,MCM-48,SBA-15 and MCFs) for CO2 capture.
