Semiconducting behavior induced by Fe deficiency in the iron monosulfide system

The electrical transport of the iron monosulfide with both P4/nmm and P63/mmc space group has been carefully investigated in this work.First-principle calculations indicate that both these two structures without Fe vacancy exhibit metallic behavior.Meanwhile the samples with tetragonal and hexagonal structure were also prepared by the coprecipitation and solid-state sintering,respectively.As revealed by X-ray diffraction,both these two samples are single-phase,but with different content of Fe vacancies.
