The catalytic asymmetric Michael reaction of β, γ-unsaturated α-ketoesters is a powerful and versatile carbon-carbon bond-forming process in organic synthesis,[1] In 2013, we reported a Michael/hemiketalization reaction of α-hydroxyacetophenone to β,γ,-unsaturated α-ketoesters with excellent enantioselectivities catalyzed by our dinuclear Zinc catalyst L1.[2] Whats more, this catalyst was more effective than Trosts dinuclear zinc catalysts in asymmetric alternating copolymerization of carbon dioxide and cyclohexene oxide.
