Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) have been on the WHO Global Oral Health agenda for several years but, following the 60th World Health Assembly 2007, they have now become a priority area for policy and advocacy. This is spelled out entitled Oral health: action plan for promotion and integrated disease prevention, which acknowledges "the intrinsic link between oral health, general health and quality of life".It also emphasizes "the need to incorporate programmes for promotion of oral health and prevention of oral diseases into programmes for the integrated prevention and treatment of chronic diseases".
