The highly variable hemipteran suborder Fulgoromorpha is recorded since the Permian (Coleoscytoidea Martynov, 1935: Coleoscytidae Martynov, 1935 and Surijokocixioidea Shcherbakov, 2000: Surijokocixiidae Shcherbakov, 2000).These widespread plant-sucking hoppers comprise 30 extant and extinct families (Bourgoin 2013).Descendants of ancient Surijokocixioidea, the superfamily Fulgoroidea, have prospered since the Jurassic.
