  Preparation of fine-grained ceramics of high density and strength for femoral head of endoprostheses is one of the actual problems.Its known that hot-pressing is a universal method for obtaining a dense ceramics.Previously we reported on a modified sol-gel synthesis(MSGS)of Ce0.09Zr0.91O2/MgO-Al2O3(20/80,wt%)nanopowders and their subsequent compaction and sintering in a dilatometer at 1200-1550℃.It has been suggested that its necessary to optimize MgO content in the nanopowder and to modify the temperature rise schedule and pressure in order to increase the density of sintered ceramics.
