In this presentation on perception during locomotion,I will discuss the importance of movement in our daily experiences of urban and architectural spaces.P.Thiel emphasized the sequential nature of our experience in an environment by saying,"The basic fact of environmental experience is that it occurs as we move through space,over intervals of time." Similarly,J.J.Gibson noted,"Animals and people do in fact see the environment during locomotion,not just in the pauses between movements.They probably see better when moving than when stationary."
