Because of the metastable nature of chain-folded polymer crystals,melting of polymer crystals is a very difficult issue to be analyzed in a quantitative manner.The melting proceeds below the equilibrium melting point and hence can be accompanied by recrystallization and/or re-organization processes.The determination of the melting point has been therefore very difficult task.The present paper focuses on the analysis of the melting kinetics and the application of the analysis for the melting point determination.
