  To observe the antioxidation and anti-inflammation effect of Genistein (Gen) on rats myocardial hypertrophy caused by isopropylarterenol (Iso).Methods: The myocardial hypertrophy model was formed through hypodermic injection Iso.The rats were administrated with various doses of Gen, DMSO or normal saline through hypodermic injection from the second day after Iso treated, and the process extended 14 days.After the last administration, the indexes of left ventricle was calculated, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD),myeloperoxidase (MPO) and the concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) in serum and interleukin-2 (IL-2) in myocardial tissue were detected.Results: In Gen groups, the left ventricle index was depressed significantly, the activity of SOD was increased while the content of MDA and the activity of MPO in the serum were decreased markedly, and the level of IL-2 in myocardial tissue of rats was enhanced.Conclusion: Gen has antioxidation and anti-inflammation effect on the myocardial hypertrophy caused by Iso.
