  Daptomycin(DAP),a cyclic lipopeptide produced by Streptomyces roseosporus(S.roseosporus),is a novel antibiotic against Gram-positive bacteria.The dptP gene locates upstream of the DAP gene cluster dpt,and its encoding protein shares a significant sequence similarity with Ded A family membrane proteins,which is required for growth or drug efflux.
