Parkinsons disease(PD)is pathologically characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra(SN).Studies in animal models of PD suggest that Cav1.3 L-type Ca2+channels may contribute to the neurodegenerative process by increasing Ca2+entry.The L-type calcium channel antagonist isradipine has the highest affinity for Cav1.3 L-type channels.
