Polysaccharide-based CPMs for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), especially those based on phenylcarbamate and benzoate derivatives of cellulose and amylose, are well-known to exhibit a high chiral recognition to a wide range of compounds.[1] However, most useful CPMs for HPLC cannot be applied in thin-layer chromatography (TLC) since the phenylcarbamate derivatives absorb strongly ultraviolet (UV) light, which is often used for detection in TLC.
