PURPOSE To describe demographic profile and ocular characteristics of infants presenting as stage 5 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) with poor prognosis in a tertiary referral center in Northwest China METHODS A retrospective review of consecutive infants with stage 5 ROP from 2010-2013.Various parameters retrieved included the inborn (born at level Ⅲ neonatal intensive care unit of our hospital)/outborn (born outside medical center) status, birth weight, gestational age, age at initial examination,screening details, check-up details and reasons for consultation.Ocular findings were recorded and special attention was given to verify the morphology of the retinal detachment (RD) as detected by ultrasonography.
