Microarray technology is rapidly emerging as the method of choice for measuring gene expression.This technology is changing experimental strategy from analysis of a few genes of interest to analysis of thousands of genes at the same time---and discovering the "genes of interest" after the experiment.Microarray requires detection of a very small fluorescent signal to detect a very small change in gene expression.In order to achieve optimal results,the quality of the array is critical.In this seminar I will describe the approach by GE Healthcare Bio-sciences (formerly Amersham Biosciences) to providing high quality bioarrays.The CodeLink TM platform is based on a slide that is coated with a 3-dimensional gel and within which short oligomers are covalently bound.Each oligomer repre sents a single gene for human,mouse or rat genomes.
