Recent climate change induced water related catastrophes in Pakistan,China,Thailand,India and Philippines serve to remind us that the most prominent and harmful impacts of climate change will be experienced through enhanced variability in the water cycle.Most of the Asian countries have already been struggling with plethora of water related challenges including flood,drought,seasonal shortages,increasing competition for limited supplies,water pollution and over exploitation of ground water.Climate change has added another formidable challenge in the form of accelerated melting of glaciers,and although the impacts are currently far from certain,they are unlikely to be favourable.
