In this work, platinum precursors supporting on exfoliated graphenenano-sheets (Pt/GS) were achieved through a melt-diffusion method[1],which derived from a facile heating process to diffuse platinum precursors on GS by micro-porous adsorption effect. These precursors were transferred into nanoparticles adhered in-between GS by hydrogen reduction.SEM and TEM characterizations indicated this simple and clean route allows Ptnano-particles achieved with high dispersion and sharp size distribution. The minimal mean size of Pt loading on GS (20 wt.%) was calculated to be 2.73 nm.The distinctperformance from differentPt loading amount and different carbon carriers were respectively taken into consideration to evaluate the efficiency of carbon supporters [2].Electrochemical tests revealed that these achieved catalysts performed much better catalytic activity and durability for electro-oxidation of methanol.Such high performance for direct methanol fuel cells is exclusively attributed to synergistic effect of exfoliated graphene sheets and Platinum nanoparticles.
