Lysin motif (LysM) is a peptidoglycan and chitin binding motif and plays multiple functions in bacteria, plants, and animals.In crayfish, a Lysin motif containing protein had been found to function in the antibacterial innate immunity.In this study, a new LysM and putative peptidoglycan-binding domain-containing-like protein was cloned from the kuruma shrimp, Marsupenaeus japonicus.It was named as the MjLPBP in this study.
