One d10 polymer based on imidazole derivative, namely, [Zn(Hiba)2]n (1)(H2iba =4-(1-H-imidazol-2-y1) benzoic acid) was synthesized under hydrothermal condition and was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and single X-ray diffractions.Polymer 1 features 2D (4, 4) layer, which contains single left-handed and right-handed 1D chain. The Hiba ligands further link these 1D chains to form an overall 3D framework. The title polymer exhibited exceptional high thermal stability. The enhanced luminescence of the title polymer is attributed to the coordination of the d10 metal ion to amine acid like ligand, then followed by the formation of ligand to metal charge transfer (LMCT).
