Flow Behavior and Absorption Reaction on Packing Sheets with Different Contact Angle

  Falling liquid film flow is wildly applied in industry for falling film absorbers,evaporators,heat pipes and reflux condensers.Flow behavior of liquid film takes important role in absorption reaction between gas and liquid phases [1].Beside liquid-gas velocity,contact angle of liquid film on packing sheet surface will lead to great change in flow behavior [2].To investigate contact angle on liquid-solid surface and its impact on flow behavior,two types of plate sheets are provided.Experimental and simulation results show that velocity profile vibrates largely on plate sheet with larger contact angle,however,it reaches to a steady condition on plate sheet with smaller contact angle.On the former plate sheet,liquid film split up to rivulet flow on lower part of the plate,and stagnation point appears.On the latter plate sheet,liquid film take whole part of the plate and show good wettability,and finally lead to high absorption rate.Liquid film inlet velocity range from 0.15~0.23m/s.15wt% MEA solution is used to absorb CO2 from N2 mixture.Simulation results also show that compare with no absorption flow,MEA absorption changes flow behavior.
