Objective:To investigate the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic HabibTM 4X as a bipolar radiofrequency device in laparoscopic hepatectomy. Methods:From October 2010 to January 2013,laparoscopic hepatectomy was performed with the laparoscopic HabibTM 4X in 48 patients in our institution. We retrospectively evaluated the collective clinic data, including preoperative clinical characteristics, postoperative data and short-time follow up outcomes.Results:48 cases were successful in tatal laparoscopic surgery, except that one patient required conversion to open surgery.30 cases were subject to local hepatectomy,13 anatomical left lateral lobe resection and 4 anatomical left hepatectomy. The mean intraoperative time was (166±67)min (range,80-360rain); mean blood loss was (162±179)ml (range,10-900ml).No patient died.1 patient postoperatively bled in the round ligament of the liver at the puncture hole in the umbilical edge.1 patient had abdominal abscess and 1 patient had pulmonary infection. No patients experienced other postoperative complications such as bleeding from liver resection margins, bile leakage, and liver failure. The mean hospital stay after operation was 9d (range,5-20d).The median follow-up period was 8 months (range,2-24months) available for 47 patients,5 cases with hepatolithiasis found no residual stone.4 cases with HCC had tumor recurrence, and the rest 38 cases have no tumor recurrence..Conclusion:The laparoscopic HabibTM is safe and effective for laparoscopic anatomical and no-anatomical live resections with minimal blood loss.
