34 species has been reported approximately in the genus Neosiphonia(Ceramiales,Rhodomelaceae)worldwide.In China,12 species has been recorded.The authors carried out some investigations and first identified three species of this genus including a new species,N.harlandii,N.japonica and N.nanaoensis sp.nov.in the coast of eastern Guangdong,China.N.nanaoensis sp.nov.is characterized by thalli with a discoid holdfast and prostrate filaments,rhizoids cut off from pericentral cells by cross walls,the clusters of lateral branch occured at a relatively obvious main axes,endogenous branches and cicatrigenous branches,four pericentral cells ecorticated completely,trichoblasts in abundant forked 3-5-(8)and scar cells conspicuous,procarps with three-celled carpogonial branches,spermatangial branches developing from a primary branch of the trichoblasts terminating in a sterile cells,tetrasporangia arranged spirally with 1-2-(4)successively.Some taxonomical characteristics were discussed and proposed as delimitation of species level.N.japonica was first recorded from the coast of eastern Guangdong,China.The results enrich the data to species diversity and biogeography distribution of genus Neosiphonia.
