  Mitogen-activated protein kinase 6 (MPK6) play important roles in Arabidopsis resposing to abiotic stresses, however, the mechanisms underlying MPK6 controlled root growth under NaCl stress remain elusive.Here, the seedlings of mpk6-2 and mpk6-3, loss-of-function mutants of MPK6, showed less sensitive to NaCl or Na-glutamate treatment compared with wild-type (WT) in root growth, this difference can not be detected when addition of EGTA (a Ca2+ chelator) or LaCl3(a Ca2+ channel inhibitor), which indicate that the absorption of Ca2+through channels in root cell membrane is necessary for mpk6 root growth under NaCl stress.
