Anthraquinone (AQ) is one of the redox-active small organic molecules with reversible electrochemical redox couples that could produce pseudocapacitance. However, the intrinsic electronic insulation of AQ limits its application as electrode for supercapacitors. Here, we selected reduced graphene oxide (RGO) sheets as the conductive substrate and used hydrothermal reaction to immobilize 1,5-diaminoanthraquinone (DAAQ) molecules on the graphene backbone. All the products GO/DAAQ (x∶y) (the mass ratio of GO (x) to DAAQ (y)) were reduced by hydriodic acid to obtain RGO/DAAQ (x∶y).
