OBJECTIVE:Theaimofourstudywastocompareclinicalandradiologicaloutcomesofpatientswhounderwentsingle-bundle anteriorcruciateligament(ACL)reconstructionwithanteromedialportal(AMP)andtranstibial(TT)techniques. METHODS:Total48patientsunderwentarthroscopicsingle-bundleACLin2007and2009.usingAMPtechniquein23patients andTTtechniquein25patients.Thepatientswereevaluatedretrospectively.Rigidfixationwasusedforfemoralfixation,and Introfixwereusedfortibialfixationofthegraft.Lachmantest,Pivotshifttest,Lysholm,InternationalKneeDocumentation Committee(IKDC-2000)scoringsystemswereusedintheclinicalandfunctionalevaluationofpatientsbeforeandafterthe surgery.Timetoreturnactivitylevelwereassessed. RESULTS:Themeanfollow-uptimewas62.5±2.3monthsand63.4±21.1monthsintheAMPandTTgroups,Therewasasignificant differencebetweentheAMPgroup(85.6%)andtheTT(34.8%)groupcomparedofanatomicalplacementofthefemoraltunnels andgrafts(p<0.01).NosignificantdifferencewasfoundbetweenthetwogroupsintermsoftheLachmantest,Pivotshifttest, Lysholm,andIKDCscores,andactivitylevel(p>0.05).ThepatientsintheAMPgroupreturnedtoactivitylevel1.2monthsearlier(p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS:TheAMPtechniquewassuperiortotheTTtechniqueinachievinganatomicalplacementofthegraftandin recoverytimetoreturnactivitylevel;however,therewasnodifferencebetweengroupsintermsoftheclinicalandfunctional outcomesinthemedium-termfollow-up.
