OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the health status, quality of life and chronic diseases of centenarians and to discuss factors affecting their longevity in Zhongxiang, Hubei.METHODS: Several visits were made to Zhongxiang, Hubei, covering seven randomly selected towns and 28 centenarians from January 2013 to August 2014.Questionnaires include Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Activities of Daily Living (ADL),nutritional status and quality of life scores.Physical examinations were also performed and the results were analyzed and evaluated.
