Gougerotin, a specific inhibitor of protein synthesis, possesses antitumor, antiviral, antibacterial,antimycoplasma, anthelmintic, and acaricidal activities.To understand the biosynthesis of gougerotin, we cloned the complete gougerotin biosynthetic gene cluster from Streptomyces graminearus.
