Reducing localized corrosion such as inter-granular corrosion without sacrifice of strength and other good mechanical properties is an important issue for manufacturing the Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloys of high quality.It is demonstrated that a significant improvement of corrosion resistance in combination with high strength and good ductility can be achieved for Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloys by optimizing conventional rolling and ageing processes.
