The annals of Joseon dynasty was treated by beeswax to preserve papers that contain historical facts from King Tae-jo to Chul-jong.Contrary to original purpose,the beeswax accelerated deterioration of papers.As a result,molecular weight of paper have decreased to about 30% of normal paper and damaged cases of annals of Joseon dynasty have increased.To extract the beeswax from paper,the supercritical carbon dioxide and co-solvent extraction technology is adopted.Soxhlet extraction was proceeded to select a proper solvent for extraction.The beeswax treated hanji which have been deteriorated at 150 °C during 24 hours was used as a raw material.The experiment is carried out on 20-80 °C,100-400 bar,1-2 hours and 0-0.3 mole% co-solvent.The beeswax is totally removed at 80 °C,400 bar,2 hour and 0.27 mole% co-solvent.And other analysis involves the strength of paper after the extraction and change of chromaticity of ink.
