Amongst todays most relevant challenges in the immunodiagnostic field are the reduction of interassay variances and of assay interference as well as improved internal and external quality control.All of these challenges might be addressed by adaptation of isotype,origin and format of the employed antibodies according to the specific needs.Nowadays,improvement of assay performance can be achieved very elegantly by recombinant technologies which allow for the establishment of chimeric antibodies providing scaffolds with particular advantages.
