LC/MS technique has become an important platform and also been widely used in the area of metabonomics.The "Ultra Performance" liquid chromatography (UPLC) employs alkyl-bonded porous particles with a particle size less than 2 μm in diameter operated with increased mobile phase linear velocities thus a significant increase in the resolution results can be gained, such as a better signal-to-noise ratio, increased sensitivity and faster analysis.Because of its sensitivity and resolution, UPLC is applied to the research of metabonomics widely.
