Oplopanax elatus (Nakai) Nakai is the plant of genus Oplopanax, which belongs to Araliaceae family.O.elatus, mainly distributed in northeast China, has been used for treating neurasthenic, rheumatism and so on.To date, polyynes from O.elatus have been demonstrated as active compounds.Therefore, quantitative analysis of polyynes is very important for ensuring the efficacy and quality of the herbal material.A high performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detection method (HPLC-DAD), and an ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled with photo diode array detection method (UPLC-PDA) were developed for the simultaneous determination of the mainly polyynes in Oplopanax elatus.In addition, the figures and data of UV spectra of the polyynes were analyzed and the characteristic UV data were summarized and it was very important and useful to identify that whether the peaks in chromatogram of Oplopanax belongs to polyynes.
