Actinomycetes are Gram positive bacteria that widely distributed in soils.Caves were reported to be an attractive source for novel actinomycetes [1],[2],[3] In this study, actinomycetes were isolated from Thanled cave soils by dilution plate technique on 4 selective media namely, starch casein agar.1/100 starch casein agar, glucose yeast extract agar and 1/100 glucose yeast extract agar.A total of 50 actinomycetes were isolated and their ability to produce antibiotic were tested by cross streak method with 5 test organisms namely Bacillus cereus.
