In actual monitoring process, because of the different hypocentral distances, anisotropic motion and complexity of focal mechanisms, the monitored energy of each station was different.Sometimes the calculation error was greater. In this paper, based on the analysis of field data in Xingcun coal mine and the energy density method, the influence of decay parameter, average value, hypocentral distance of seismic station on energy calculation was analyzed. And also, the energy calculating method in Xingcun coal mine was improved.Statistical results show that: a) the energy calculating method should be used in a spherical wave model where energy attenuation was smaller; b) different decay parameters have little effect on energy level; c) when hypocentral distances of each station differ greatly, the calculated average energy was smaller; d) the best hypocentral distance of each station is about 500 m; e) comparison shows that the theoretical relationship between rockburst energy and Richter scale is very close to empirical formula measured in Poland. The optimization results show that energy is larger and energy anomaly is more obvious before strong mining-induced seismicity occurred.
