Progression and metastasis represent the most detrimental factors of cancer mortality.To sustain progression and metastasis, tumors including breast cancers absolutely depend on the establishment of new circulation, mainly by angiogenesis, to supply sufficient life-supporting materials such as molecular oxygen, carbon sources, nitrogen sources,etc.Anti-angiogenesis has been introduced for many years as a new strategy for cancer therapy.Extensive studies have shown that multiple oncogenic signaling pathways such as mitogen-activated pathway (MAPK), PI3-kinase pathway, and pathways activated by loss of tumor suppressors or activation of oncogenes, stimulate angiogenesis.It is generally believed that the most important regulatory mechanism underlying angiogenesis is the hypoxia-inducible factors (HIF)-vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF)-VEGF receptors (VEGFR) axis.
