Aluminium based composite materials with exhibiting magnetic properties were fabricated using a mixture of pure aluminium and ferrite powder via mechanical alloying (MA) and subsequently spark plasma sintering (SPS).Changes in hardness, constituent phases and soft magnetic properties of both mechanically alloyed (Maed) powders and spark plasma sintered (SPSed) materials were examined by microhardness measurements, X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer, respectively.Effects of compositions, MA time and sintering temperatures on the properties of the SPSed materials were investigated.
