Kinamycins belong to atypical angucycline antibiotics synthesized by type Ⅱ polyketide synthases.Besides the diazo group of kinamycins which is rarely occurred in nature, the highly oxygenated D-ring is the most remarkable feature which we are mainly focused on.Streptomyces ambofaciens was recently reported to be able to produce kinamycins and the biosynthetic gene cluster was situated in the terminal inverted repeats of the linear chromosome.Genome analysis and sequence alignment revealed that AIpK which was annotated as FAD-dependent monooxygenase and of high similarity to JadH might be responsible for the oxygenation reactions on D-ring.
