Background Current thinking is that liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSEC) play an important role in liver regeneration by restoring the microcirculation and by providing HGF.However normal LSEC express little HGF.Our hypothesis is that following partial hepatectomy (PHx), an influx of bone marrow-derived SPC are essential for restoring the microcirculation and provide the increased HGF needed for liver regeneration.
