14-3-3 proteins are a group of regulatory proteins of divergent functions in plants. However, their functionalities have hardly been known in maize kernel development,a process of pivotal significance to both human and maize itself.Bioinformatic analysis uncovered that two 14-3-3 isoform genes,zmAAU93690.1(AU)and zmGF14-12(GF),exhibited prominent expression profiles over other 14-3-3 protein genes during maize kernel development.More than 5000 AU-and GF-transcripts were identified accounting for about 1/10 of the total transcripts of genes correlating to maize kemel development.
