  Insulin resistance (IR) is the coherent pathologic basis of IR-related diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, PCOS and so on.Clinical researches have provided evidence that acupuncture is effective in treating obesity, hypertension and PCOS by randomized controlled trials (RCT), although the quality and methodology of the RCT researches needs further evaluation.
