  Telomerase activation is a key step in the development of human cancers.In this study Artificial zinc finger protein (ZFP) transcription factors (TF) was used to repress expression of hTERT in human cancer cell lines at the transcriptional level.4-finger ZFPs of which each zinc finger module was derived from human genome were constructed.Constructed 4-finger ZFPs could bind 12 bp recognition sequences within the promoter of the hTERT gene and were fused with KRAB repressor domain to create potent transcriptional repressor.
