Chemotherapy is a common treatment for many cancers, especially for those metastatic cancers.Induced apoptosis is an important mechanism of chemotherapeutic agents to eliminate cancer cells.Apoptosis is also a protective mechanism in our body to eliminate damaged cells or unwanted cells during development.This cell suicide programme characterized by unique cellular events such as mitochondrial fragmentation and dysfunction, nuclear condensation, cytoplasmic shrinkage and the activation of apoptotic protease caspases, which has been reckoned as the point-of-no return.
