As a part of our discovery of new anticancer drug candidates from natural resources,we have been trying to search molecular-targeted antitumor lead compounds from marine organisms.Until now,we have found some interesting compounds like cancer cell differentiation inducers (smenospongine),cell cycle arrest inducers (aaptamine) from marine sponges.Glioblastoma,the most common intracranial malignancy,constitutes about half of all gliomas.Due to its location in the brain,invasive behavior and poor prognosis,glioblastoma has become one of the most terrible cancers.The overall median survival time is about 15 months despite the combined therapy of surgery,radiation and chemotherapy.
