The goal of this study is to conduct computational fluid dynamic(CFD)simulations for evaluating the potential influences of vegetation mitigation on the outdoor thermal environments,especially at a pedestrian level.Experiments were made at different locations around the College of Design in National Taipei University of Technology(NTUT),Taiwan.The measured air temperature and velocity were compared with the CFD results.Two scenarios are simulated by considering the current NTUT campus with and without greening arrangements,whereas the existing situation adopts three greening strategies,i.e.trees,vertical greening and roof greening.The results of this study indicate that the thermal environment can be improved by planting vegetation.
